Abstract

The purpose of this paper is to analyze the thermal effects due to copper losses and iron losses in a 6/4 switched reluctance machine (SRM) by the 2D finite element method. The shape of the magnetic induction in the calculation of iron losses by using analytical formulations is being considered. An analytical method is also used for determining the heat transfer coefficients by natural convection. The ANSYS FLUENT software is used to determine the velocity of the fluid inside the machine to calculate the coefficient of forced convection.
