Abstract

This article is devoted to the study of the performances of nonlinear sliding mode control (SMC) of a variable speed wind energy conversion system (WECS) based on a Doubly Fed Induction Generator (DFIG). The SMC strategy is applied to both Rotor Side Converter (RSC) and Grid Side Converter (GSC). The RSC controls the active and reactive powers produced by the DFIG. The GSC controls the DC-bus voltage and the power factor. Simulations results show interesting performances of the system in terms of the robustness against parameters variations.
