Abstract
In this paper mathematical models and simulation of different topologies for voltage source inverter (VSI) based static synchronous series compensator are discussed. An overview of different topologies like twelve pulse, forty eight pulse multi-pulse, five level diode clamped multi-level and five level hybrid multi-level in terms of its working principle, merits and demerits are discussed. Modeling and simulation of these topologies using PSCAD software is given.
