A Planar On-Body Antenna System for Cancerous Tumor Detection Through Microwave Transmission Sensing

Abstract

A two antenna based detection model is studied in
order to investigate the change of the dielectric properties of human tissue in the presence of a malignant tumor. Microwave transmission is evaluated through a direct comparison with a reference value and initial numerical results for various tumor sizes, demonstrate that the system may be used for future early detection of the presence and position of tissue abnormalities.
