Abstract

This paper presents the investigation of distributed generation (DG) integration, particularly wind and photovoltaic systems, on power system dynamic stability. The optimal size and location obtained by connecting DGs at different locations with different sizes to specify the optimal locations and sized based on technical and economical considerations. The economical side was the power losses minimization where the technical side concerns the power system operating conditions at steady (voltage profiles and total harmonic distortion) considering power flow constraints. Then, the dynamic operation following faults investigated to clarify the effects of DGs connection at optimal location on power system performance during contingencies. The analytical process applied on IEEE 30-bus test system.
