UNIT COMMITMENT BY LAGRANGIAN RELAXATION INCORPORATING DIFFERENTIAL EVOLUTION

Abstract
This paper proposes Lagrangian relaxation method along with differential evolution algorithm to solve the unit commitment problem. Optimal setting of Lagrangian multipliers is obtained by incorporating Differential Evolution procedure. Spinning reserve, minimum up, and down time constraints, start up cost, and generation limit constraints are taken into consideration of Problem formulation. The proposed algorithm is tested on a 10-unit system and is compared with other methods reported in the literature.
