Abstract

In furthermost of the maximum peak power point tracking approaches described presently in the literature, the finestfunction point ofthe photovoltaic schemes is assessed by linear calculations. Nevertheless these estimates can lead to less than optimumfunctioning conditions and henceforthdecreasesignificantly the performances of the photovoltaicscheme. This paper presents a novel technique todetermine the peak power pointbased on observes of the opencircuit voltage of the photovoltaiccells, and a nonlinearexpression for the optimumfunctioning voltage is established based on this opencircuit voltage. The methodology is thus a mixture of thenonlinear and enhanced perturb and observe(P&O) algorithm. The simulation and experimental consequences show that the methoddevelops clearly thetracing efficiency of the extreme power obtainable at the production of the photovoltaic array. The new techniquedecreases the fluctuations aroundthe peak power point, and raises the average efficiency of the maximum power point tracking attained. The novel maximum power tracking technique will provideadditional power to energy storage.
