Design and Implementation of a 250W, Low Speed Switched Reluctance Hub Motor

Abstract
This paper aims at design, analytical verification, fabrication and implementation of a 250 W, 200 rpm, 48 V, 8/6 pole, SR Hub motor. Step by step procedure for SR hub motor is presented. The procedure is evolved from the basic background in electromagnetics. Subsequently Finite Element software is used to analyse the machine parameters. With design parameters, aligned inductance, and unaligned inductances are calculated, measured and compared with FEA results. The machine is fabricated and the commutation schemes for SR Hub motor are presented. This scheme permits a simple logic control and with position feedback from a new low-resolution position sensors.
