Single Stage Power Conversion for Wind Energy System Using AC-AC Matrix Converter
Main Article Content
Abstract
Matrix converter is one of the latest single stage AC-AC converters. It can convert fixed ac voltage into variable amplitude and variable frequency ac voltage. A permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG) driven by wind turbine is connected to the three phase matrix converter. To control the matrix converter, Space Vector Pulse Width Modulation (SVPWM) technique is used. SVPWM technique provides the output AC voltage with very less harmonics. The SVPWM pulse pattern is varied according to wind velocity and generated voltage. The Field Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) controller is used to implement the SVPWM technique. The main objective of this project is to maintain constant frequency and constant load voltage at low wind velocity.
