Abstract

This paper presents dynamic modelling of Automatic Generation Control of two area interconnected power system considering diverse sources in each area. The two areas are interconnected by AC tie- line in presence of hydro, thermal and gas power plants in each area. To carry out the investigations, PI control strategy based AGC regulators are designed using optimal control theory. To assess the stability of the system, pattern of open-loop and closed-loop system eigenvalues are computed. To investigate the dynamic performance of system optimal AGC regulators are implemented with increase step load disturbance in one of the control area.
