Abstract

This paper presents an anti-islanding detection method. The proposed method employs an artificial immune system (AIS) to enhance the performance of the sandia frequency shift (SFS) method. AIS is used to optimize the SFS parameters and hence improve the islanding detection speed, reduce the non-detection zone (NDZ) and at the same time reduce the total harmonic distortion (THD). The proposed method is derived analytically and implemented using Matlab/Simulink program. A case study includes a DFIG wind turbines connected to grid are used to verify it. The optimized parameter helps to detect the islanding with least potential adverse impact on power quality.
