Design and performance analysis of a Maximum Power Point Tracking using Sliding Mode Controller for harvesting Photo Voltaic Power

In this paper the design and performance analysis of a Sliding Mode Controller (SMC) based Maximum Power Point Tracking (MPPT) in a Photo Voltaic system is reported. The proposed system uses the Positive Output Luo Converter (POLC) as the power converter. The performance of the SMC for the purpose of MPPT is analysed, contrasted and compared against the performance of the Perturb and Observe (P and O) algorithm. A MATLAB SIMULINK based simulation has been carried out and the proposed idea has been validated using simulation and a suitable experimental verification system.
